Mask, Face Shield, PPE, Gloves: The New Normal

It’s been four months since our lives have been upended by Covid-19, hurling us at a kind of life only seen in sci-fi movies.

Since the pandemic arrived, we have quickly adapted to the New Normal, donning PPEs every time we leave the safety of our homes, like face masks, face shields and, in some cases, even gloves.

Immediately after the government implemented a nationwide enhanced community qauarantine in mid-March, FabricOnlinePH Online Shop started creating and selling face masks, face shields, and contributed to the safety of our frontliners by having the tafetta silver-back lining fabric readily available for clients that wish to donate PPEs to various hospitals.

Cotton Poplin Fabric for Sale in PH: Perfect for baby nests, apparel, home decor projects

Tightly woven, the cotton poplin fabric is also known as the “tabinet.” This fabric is a plain weave material with crosswise ribs and contains fine warp and weft yarns.

As a popular shirting fabric, it is durable, crease-resistant, and sturdy, making the cotton poplin easy to maintain. It is also smooth, soft, and non-stretch. Its organic nature makes it very breathable and does not retain odors.

This fabric is also used for apparel, like blouses, dresses, pajamas, and shirts. It can also be used for face masks. You can also use cotton poplin for your home decor projects, like accent pillows, bed sheets, curtains, and napkins.

WHY IT’S PERFECT FOR BABY NESTS

The 100% natural cotton poplin absorbs moisture and dries quickly, and it’s cool and crisp to the touch. It is also chemical-free and hypoallergenic, making it perfect for sensitive skin. This is why this fabric is often used to make baby nests.

Taffeta silver back lining (SBL) for sale in PH, used for PPEs

Local fabric taffeta silver back lining (SBL) is currently hot on the market as it is being used to create heaps of PPEs for our frontliners.

Recently, fashion designer Mich Dulce made headlines for designing a lab-gown type of protective suit for medical frontliners in partnership with the Office of the Vice President Leni Robredo. This came at the most appropriate time when the country is running out of PPEs.

Dulce, along with her team of volunteer sewers and designers called the Manila Protective Gear Sewing Club on Facebook, is upholding the spirit of Filipino bayanihan. This further encourages our countrymen to join the continuous effort in protecting our frontliners by creating and donating this newly designed non-medical grade PPE suit.

APPROVED DESIGN, OPEN TO PUBLIC

The design/prototype was approved, and the local fabric being used for the PPE isolation suit is taffeta silver back lining (SBL), which is now in demand as more sewers are creating the protective suit for clients that donate them to our frontliners in various hospitals in the country.

The pattern for the protective suit is open to the public, as we need more people to sew the approved design to protect our frontliners.

Microfiber textile: For Sale in PH

Microfiber is normally used to make upholstery, cleaning cloths, apparel, or industrial filters, as it is ideal for water repellency, and other filtering needs.

Face mask made from microfiber.

WHAT IS MICROFIBER?

The textile microfiber is made from super fine synthetic yarns, which are polyester and nylon. The fibers are so ultra thin, up to 100 times finer than a human hair! This is why it’s great at repelling water. It has a slight positive charge, which means it also traps dusty bits (they’re negatively charged) instead of spreading them.

This is why microfiber can be used to make a face mask, which you can wash and reuse. (However, frontliners are discouraged to use microfiber face masks, and must continue using the required medical-grade PPEs.

BREATHABLE

Microfiber is extremely breathable, even while repelling water. This is the reason why it’s popular for linens and sports wear. It helps regulate temperature and keep you comfortable while wearing it, or sleeping on it!

HOW TO CLEAN

To clean your microfiber textile, simply hand-wash it with water, or soak in cool or warm (not hot!) water. Rinse and air- dry.

Sale in PH: Chiffon fabric for that elegant gown

Selling online: chiffon fabric!

Chiffon is a transparent and translucent lightweight fabric. It’s a balanced plain-woven sheer fabric most commonly used in formal wear, particularly as an overlay to provide an elegant, sophisticated appearance to a gown.

Like gossamer, the delicate fabric chiffon is the most popular choice for making lingerie, scarves, ribbons, and blouses. It’s smoother compared to the georgette fabric — and more lustrous, too.

The original chiffon was purely made from silk, but in the 12th century, a nylon version was invented, and in 1958 saw the creation of the polyester chiffon, which became extremely famous for being low-cost and resilient.

Chiffon is quite challenging to work on because of its light and slippery texture. If examined under a magnifying glass, you will see that chiffon looks like a fine net or mesh. And because of its gauzy nature, chiffon must be gently hand-washed. French seams must also be used to stop the fabric from fraying.

Check out our chiffon fabric that comes in many colors. This fabric sells rather quickly, so please contact us now for inquiries!

Sale in PH: Velvet fabric, for that royal, noble look

Selling online: Velvet fabric!

This fabric has often been associated with nobility and aristocracy. Velvet originated in Baghdad through Kashmiri merchants, but much of it was spread in Europe, particularly in Italy.

Velvet is a silken textile fabric with a short dense piled surface. It’s a type of woven tufted fabric, with a distinctive soft touch, inspiring the phrase “smooth as velvet.”

The use of velvet around the home is normally associated with wealth and class, as only the ultra-rich can afford this fabric in the 19th century.

Today, more synthetic velvet fabrics have been produced, mostly from nylon, polyester, acetate and more.

Velvet can either be created from natural or synthetic fibers. Traditionally, the most expensive type of velvet is silk, or “silk velvet,” which is essentially a mix of silk and rayon.

Cotton is also commonly known to be used to make velvet, but the result is less luxurious. Today, more synthetic velvet fabrics have been produced, mostly from nylon, polyester, acetate and more.

Due to its sleek and smooth feel, velvet is mainly used for intimate garments, dresses, gowns, robes, upholstery, various clothing, and costumes. It can also be used for curtain-making to block out sunlight. Velvet is also used for handbags, scarves and other accessories.

Today, you can buy velvet fabric that is very much affordable, thanks to clever uses of the fabric. Check out our velvet fabric on sale!
